Students With Disabilities

Lawrence Public Schools has several systems in place to serve its students with disabilities. We also coordinate with Van Buren Intermediate School District (VBISD) to
provide direct and indirect services to our Lawrence students with disabilities as well as those having more severe or low-incidence disabilities. In addition, services for
children with disabilities birth to Kindergarten may be obtained through the Van Buren Intermediate School District.
If you have specific questions regarding any of the special education programs, or for a copy of the Special Education Parent Handbook, please call the main office of your
child's school or our Special Education Supervisor.

McKinney Vento Homeless Act
The McKinney-Vento Act is a Federal Law that ensures the right of students to go to school even when they are homeless or don’t have a permanent address. The Act aims to reduce barriers that have prevented many homeless youth from enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school. Lawrence Public Schools' Homeless Liaison is Tara Lampe.
